As many of you know, I am the managing head of Fiction Vortex’s Of Metal and Magic StoryVerse. It’s a shared, high-fantasy universe that currently has seven authors, including myself. I want to give you guys some updates on what’s going on with us at OMAM, as we call ourselves, but first let me mention another group under the Fiction Vortex umbrella.
You see, as you are read this, there are currently around a dozen (maybe more) StoryVerses that are established and building content, with more being developed. One of the originals, and the vanguard of the format, is Ash Falls. Ash Falls refers to the name of a town where all sorts of supernatural shenanigans happens. The head of the StoryVerse is Jeremy Schofield, and he recently laid out in a a blog post where his group is at with their releases. Ash Falls has seven active series, two of which have completed seasons which can be purchased as books (just like Call of the Guardian).
Just check out Jeremy’s post . Look at all those awesome covers! I’m so jealous.
Now, Of Metal and Magic is not nearly as established as Ash Falls. Not by half. But Jeremy’s post has inspired me to write an update of my own, to let all of you know where OMAM is currently at, and where we are headed.
As of right now, the only work available to the public is my season one novel, Call of the Guardian. But man is it a good book! (Maybe I’m a bit biased…)
Guardian is one of two core stories that establish the setting and lore of our fantasy world, Soria. The other is Jon Clapier’s Blood of the Forge. Jon is actually the creator of the world, but he is also a Fiction Vortex executive, which is why his series is a bit behind in development. Currently Jon has three episodes pending final edits and more being drafted.
We also have two more series that are being written and edited as we speak, Richie Billing’s Pariah’s Lament, and Chris Brock’s The Mad Reign. We expect to release those series in the coming months once Fiction Vortex’s reading app, StoryShop is officially launched. Currently it is being beta tested. That just gives us more time to develop content.
To that end, we have two more authors who are outlining new series and will begin drafting episodes soon. I am also in contact with a few other writers, trying to lure them into our little gang. The potential in OMAM is almost palpable at the moment. It’s a very exciting time to be involved.
If you’d like to know more about our StoryVerse, here’s a flyer I created for Comic Con, back in August.

Of course, I will be posting more updates as we get closer to a formal release. For now, you can pick up a copy of Call of the Guardian or check out our Facebook Page, to see what we are about.
I also should mention that I am currently working on my second season, which is actually a new series, a spin-off of Guardian. But more to follow on that.
Thanks for reading!
~JM
